About Mediterranean Gem

I’m Sean, a traveler with a deep love for Italy, history, and coastal culture. After living, studying, and eating my way across the Mediterranean, I created this blog to help fellow curious travelers avoid the tourist traps and experience this region like a local.

I find myself obsessed with the Mediterranean, its cultures, cuisine, ancient ruins, history, people and more.

I grew up in New Jersey, taking after my Italian roots, in love in Italy and Mediterranean culture. I’ve been to Italy 5 times, studied abroad in Rome, and taught English in Codogno, near Milan. While living in Italy and having explored 70 cities from North to South, I have also explored Greece, Spain, Morocco, and Malta. My next adventure is living in Argentina as an English teacher & digital nomad, which you can follow on my other blog here: Nomadic Sean

In this blog, Mediterranean Gem will be your guide to exploring the Mediterranean region on a friendly budget, while having an authentic rich cultural travel experience, and most importantly traveling safe.
